this is a one track recording into one mic. All acoustic cookie tin banjo and a suitcase drum. one shot one kill.

lyrics

I lit out of town, riding backwards on a mule
a pocket full of quarters I was racing with the moon
just a little country dork with a cigar box guitar
a broken set of legs and 2 big hands full of scars
she was just the kind of girl the whole damn world liked to harm
too blond hair too big stare been too long on the farm
the kind of girl that you might miss if you don't look long and hard
she was halfway through her suicide note when I happened along.
we first met and it all fit like rainwater on leaves
a cold wind started blowing pulling branches off the trees
I knew first time I kissed her that she would ruin me in the end
the crows were flying overhead and I kissed her again.
In a western pa city we robbed the local trust
it didn't even feel real till they shot at both of us
they blew out the windshield it was raining blood and glass
I put the pedal to the floor but we were almost out of gas
I turned to my baby just to ask what we should do
then I saw her hand on the spot where the bullet had gone through
I pulled off the highway and she died right in my arms
then they took me away 30 years behind bars.
The judge he loudly asked me was I sorry about what I'd done
I said I have no regrets who can be sorry about true love
I knew first time I kissed her she would ruin me in the end.
The crows were flying overhead and I kissed her again.
The crows were flying overhead and I kissed her again.
